Braillist for the 2024-2025 School Year

We are working with a school district located in Commerce City, CO that is looking to hire a contract braillist for the 2024-2025 school year with the opportunity to renew for the following school year.

The selected candidate will be hired on as a full time contracted employee through ProCare Therapy. A full school year contract will be awarded for you to complete. The School Brailleist is responsible for transcribing educational materials into braille for visually impaired students. This role involves converting textbooks, worksheets, exams, and other educational resources into braille format to ensure accessibility and inclusivity for students with visual impairments.

Caseload:

  • Full time: 35 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday
  • August 5th, 2024 - May 29th, 2025
  • Hours: 7:30 - 3:30
  • K-12th grade caseload

Responsibilities:

  • Transcribe educational materials into braille using braille transcription software or manual methods.
  • Proofread and edit braille documents to ensure accuracy and readability.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and students to understand their specific needs and preferences.
  • Maintain an organized library of braille materials and ensure timely production of requested materials.
  • Stay updated on braille codes, guidelines, and technological advancements in braille transcription.
  • Provide training and support to teachers and staff on using braille materials effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility regulations and standards, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, special education, or a related field.
  • Certification in braille transcription preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with visual impairments preferred.
  • Previous school experience preferred
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check

Interview Process:

  • 10 –15 minute screening call with a ProCare Therapy Recruiter
  • 20-30 Minute virtual interview directly with the school district
  • Offer is typically within 24-48 hours of the virtual interview
